The Vicious Cycle of History

It's hard to believe that the cycle keeps on turning and turning and turning...and no one seems particularly inclined to stop it. If anything, some people seem rather eager to make it spin faster.

And some idiots have the gall to think they can somehow make history "better" by erasing the less-than-ideal bits altogether, or at least sanitizing them.

I also think we're much too critical of our Founding Fathers. Sure, they made mistakes, but doesn't everybody? Yet we have that natural tendency to make even the smallest shortcoming as enormous as a mountain. (Hence the scripture, "Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?")

Something tells me that the Second Civil War, or even World War III, isn't too far distant.
