Snowbird Trip

Just got home from Snowbird, and already I'm feeling pretty stiff from the pool and I've still got that chlorine smell on my skin. I'm going to shower in a little bit. Hope I'm not too sore tomorrow when I go to work.

But I had a great time and that pool felt marvelous. Mostly I just dog-paddled and frog-kicked from one end of the pool to the other. I wore my glasses at first, but eventually took them off when I got splattered a little too much.

There were quite a few people there, more than half of them kids, and man, some of them took to that water like fishes. Some had goggles and others had facial masks, and at least two of them had a snorkel. One girl brought a dragon raft with her, and another girl wore a mermaid-tail swimswuit.

It's been brutally hot these last few weeks; we're going through a record heatwave. So, that pool was just what I needed to really cool down.

Aside from that, the scenery was very nice, and of course, it was nice to visit with family for a bit. My dad's sister and her husband rent a condo at Snowbird for a week every year, and they've been doing it for almost 50 years. We usually drop by one day to visit for a while, mostly to enjoy the pool.

There was some great food, too. We contributed M&M brownies, and there was a bit of a sandwich bar, so we got to make our own sandwiches. Mine had roast beef and turkey on soft whole wheat bread with tomatoes, onions, a little cheese, ketchup, mustard, and several giant pickle wedges. And there were plenty of mini potato chip bags, vegetables, slices of watermelon, cookies, and Rice Krispy treats. There was even a little jar full of Tootsie Pops and Blow Pops. We just drank water.

We swam before we ate, and by the time we got out, I admitted that I was getting hungry.

Overall, we were there for at least four and a half hours, not counting the drive, and we wanted to get out of the canyon before it got too dark. Time really does fly when you're having fun.

Naturally, I thought of my own characters and the ones who love to get wet.
