Disney Musical May 17 - Let Me Be Good to You

Dearest friends, dear gentlemen,
Listen to my song
Life down here's been hard for you
Life has made you strong
Let me lift the mood

With my attitude

Hey, fellas,
The time is right
Get ready
Tonight's the night
Boys, what you're hopin' for will come true
Let me be good to you

You tough guys
You're feelin' all alone

You rough guys

The best o' you sailors and bums

All are my chums

So dream on
And drink your beer

Get cozy
Your baby's here
You won't be misunderstood

Let me be good to you

Hey, fellas,
I'll take off all my blues

Hey, fellas,

There's nothin' I won't do

Just for you

So dream on
And drink your beer

Get cozy

Your baby's here

Hey, boys, I'm talkin' to you
Your baby's gonna come through
Let me be good to you

Sometimes Disney can get pretty bold. What flies way over your head as a kid makes a lot more sense and makes your jaw drop further when you're grown.

This is, in essence, a Victorian burlesque strip tease. Anyone who's taken a class or two on Victorian England will know that some girls had to take whatever jobs they could get, especially if they were unmarried. Literally anything was better than starving in the streets.

Beyond that, maintaining a respectable appearance was absolutely essential. But the kinds of skeletons certain people kept in their closets could be quite shocking. What we read in the original Sherlock Holmes stories is a G-rated taste test of that world.

On the other hand, I kind of like this type of daring. I like how they don't go all the way but they also don't shy completely away.

What we now know as Chip 'n Dale: Rescuer Rangers was initially planned as a TV series for The Great Mouse Detective. As much as I enjoyed Chip and Dale's show then and admire it now, I think it would have been really cool to see more adventures involving Basil, Dr. Dawson, and possibly Olivia...but I guess Disney got cold feet in the end.

Too bad.

My Inktober 2022 - 23 - Cute Mouse

Ever since I started working on that Winnie the Pooh group hug...

...I got to thinking about the possibility of a little cute series all my own, featuring woodland animals and a unicorn. Of course, Terence and Reid's stories are front and center, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to dabble on the side.

One character I have in mind is a little field mouse, and he's got the personality of Piglet: very small and timid, but very sweet and able to rise to the occasion when needed.

Tigger may be my most favorite Pooh character, but Piglet is an easy number two. So, this adorable little mouse will be a nice little kindred spirit. Can't decide yet if he should be gray or brown, light or dark.

Name-wise, I'm considering Pipsqueak, or "Pip" for short. That's what I use on my Pippin.

In any case, you know me when it comes to cute stuff. Cuteness meters are never safe!

Inktober 2018 - Day 22

Twenty-two entries down; nine to go!

Official "Inktober" 22: Expensive. Never trust Ann Lactantius with a budget! Never assume that just because you have all the money in the world (or all the money you could ever need), you can splurge it on anything you want at any time. Many times, Ann buys things just for the sake of buying them. She, along with her side of the family, truly believes that money (and a ton of fancy stuff) means happiness...and she finds out the hard way that that's not true.

Disney "Inktober" 22: Rodents. I decided to go for a slightly lesser-known, less-celebrated rodent, Roquefort from The Aristocats. I always liked him; it's nice to see cats and mice get along for a change (likely enough, the Aristocats are too "sophisticated" to chase mice, so Roquefort knows he's safe around Duchess and her kittens), and he's just so darn cute! Sterling Holloway's voice is a nice touch, too. And that scene with the cracker never fails to make me hungry.

"Fantasytober" 22: Dryad. Not much to say about this one, but I like it!

Snowbird 2026

Snowbird again  Got to go swimming this time.
