12 Days of Christmas (2020) - Day 7

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: seven swans a-swimming...

...six geese a-laying...

...five golden rings...

...four calling birds...

...three French hens...

...two turtle doves...

...and a partridge in a pear tree!

My fantasy version: seven dwarfs a-mining...

...six flying horses...

...five magic rings...

...four mountain trolls...

...three phoenixes...

...two forest fauns...

and a unicorn as white as the snow!

Interesting fact: The swan is a symbol of grace, purity, and harmony. It's also a symbol of balance: yin and yang, light and dark, good and bad.

The dwarf also represents balance and the vital need for it. On one hand, you should be strong and ready to face your enemies at a moment's notice, but on the other hand, you can't always get along through brute force. In most modern fantasies, dwarfs are known to be grumpy, sarcastic, and a bit bloodthirsty in a fight, yet they'll stand by their true friends to the death.
