Lullabee, lullabee
Honeybees in the tree
Rest your wings
Till the morning light
Lullabee, lullabee
Honeybees in the tree
Your honey
Is safe tonight
Just dream to the tune
I am singing
Time to stop all that buzzing
And stinging...ouch!
Lullabee, lullabee
Honeybees in the tree
All I want is a smackerel or two
Or three
Don't sleep lightly
Sleep very tightly
Happy slumbers to you
One of Disney's lesser-known songs, but I like it. It's from The Tigger Movie and silly old Pooh Bear is trying to distract his little buzzing opponents with a soft, sweet lullaby, or in this case, "lullabee."
It's crazy enough to work...for a very short while.
The song was written by the Sherman Brothers, who were the masterminds behind the original Pooh songs and a great many Disney songs for a great many years.
They were also real pros at putting lullabies together. I dare anyone not to get just a tiny bit drowsy when listening to "Stay Awake," "Hushabye Mountain," "Mother Earth and Father Time," or "Pooh's Lullabee."
