You'd think I'd be burned out by now. Well, I'll say it one more time: "Inktober" is a load of fun, and it's doing me good. It entertains me, cheers me up, and gives me something to laugh about; goodness knows I could use a few laughs.
Okay, for day 10:
Flowing. A much-needed moment of serenity.
Day 10 of Disney:
Fathers. The loss of my own dad made this a bittersweet piece.
Day 10 of Fantasytober:
Werewolf. Beware!
Day 11:
Cruel. I didn't have the heart to draw something too vivid, so I tried to add some comedy and almost instant karma. You kick the mutt; the mutt bites your butt!
Day 11 of Disney:
Birds.
Aladdin might not have been one of my favorite movies (nothing wrong with it; I just didn't get as swept up in the hype), but I always liked Iago. And this has become one of my unofficial catch phrases.
Day 11 of Fantasytober, and my personal favorite:
Vampire. I am
not a fan of vampires (though I adore
Hotel Transylvania), and man, do I remember well those dark days of Stephenie Meyer's
Twilight. To be fair, it was her first work (and the editors did a pretty lousy job on their part), and to write a full-length novel is no small accomplishment. I know firsthand how tough it is just to write a decent short story. So I give Meyer a
little credit, and I honestly did try to give her stuff a chance.
All the same, something never clicked. I got as far as the first chapter in the first book before I called it quits; skimming through the rest of the story, I absolutely could not stomach Bella or Edward, and four big books were way too much. Heck, half of the first book was more than plenty!
Abysmal writing, abysmal characters, a toxic relationship, a one-track goal that drags on and on and on before it's finally achieved, and when at last you get to the end, that really is the end; there's nothing more to say. And yet people treated this story as if it were the Holy Bible, and when the movies came out, box office sales shot through the roof. If the books themselves didn't do me in, the hype definitely did.
I used to write lyrics and draw a couple of drawings that poked merciless fun at this series. So, for this Fantasytober prompt, I decided to draw another satire for old times' sake. I have to admit, I can hardly look at this with a straight face!
